Proper Estate Planning

There's a saying about death and money which goes something like, "there's nothing like death and money to tear a family apart." These sayings evolve because of their truthfulness.

I've discussed the importance of getting an estate plan, and can't affirm it more. You need to have a will to protect your family from each other (see this post here). Having a will is so important, I even taught you how to draft a hand-written one (check out the posts here, here, and here).

I'm currently assisting in a simple probate that's becoming more complex because of the parties involved. What should have been a quick and easy distribution of the decedent's estate, is turning into a vindictive tirade between siblings, that's only costing the estate more time, money, and trouble, without resolving any simple issues.

If you want to avoid this type of malcontent in your life, you or your loved ones need to get a will, or better yet, establish a living, revocable trust. Keep "the wolves" from attacking each other.
