Financial Freedom

I told you I liked reading Alexis Martin-Neely’s blog, and today’s post is another spectacular example of why she’s doing such a great job educating families about the stresses of becoming financially secure.

If you’re like me, it’s getting a little more stressful, and frustrating for you to manage your family finances. Even more, the government’s 700 billion dollar bailout, which we know is going to cost us much more in the end, is just another prime example/reason to be fearful.

Well, it’s time to take control of your life, stop making excuses, and start really living with a goal toward financial freedom.

In addition to Alexis’ suggestions, I’d like to offer the following advisors (remember they’re materials are available at the library for free, p.s. your taxes already pay for these, so use them) that I’ve found useful in gaining some control over my finances:

  1. Suze Orman
  2. Dave Ramsey

I’m especially a big fan of Dave’s, because of his easy-to-start "Baby Steps" to financial freedom. You’ll notice that he encourages that you save for your kid’s college later in the program.

BTW: according to Dave, if I stick with what I’m doing right now, I’m set to lose $165,000.00 by age 65. So don’t feel too bad yourselves.
